A Ride on the Staten Island Ferry

By Ryan P. Casey and Laura Ramirez

The Staten Island Ferry is one of New York City’s biggest bargains. Five ferryboats transport 60,000 passengers everyday from St. George, Staten Island, to Whitehall Street in lower Manhattan. The 25-minute free ride allows commuters and tourists to get a spectacular view of the New York Harbor, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
We had the opportunity to talk to some passengers aboard a 9am boat, and they shared their thoughts on the Staten Island Ferry experience.
