Table Tennis in Tompkins Square Park

REVISION

By: McKenzie Beehler

Pick up your paddles, people. Tompkins Square Park installed a Ping Pong table.

Alan Good, the founder and president of Henge, cretaed a ping pong table that combines art and functionality. The table is made entirely of concrete, and the net is steel.

Good, a former dancer, also believes the table brings people together.

“A crude analogy is when a city and its environmentalists worry about a fish population in a river…They drop an old subway car into the river. It’s a place where fish…hang out. The fish population goes up. Same thing with clever urban development,” Good said.
