Coffee aficionados now have one more way to enjoy their daily coffee fix from Starbucks. Forgotten wallets are no longer a problem now that Starbucks has begun accepting mobile payment through Square Wallet.
Beginning November 7th, 2012, Square was activated at more than 7,000 Starbucks locations. Square Wallet is an application for iOS and Android which allows customers to browse menus, store hours, and his/her transaction history. The application is also linked with the Starbucks Card and My Starbucks Rewards programs that the company already offers.
Jill Sammons DuBois, of Clearwater, Florida uses the Square payment system and said she enjoys that it is convenient.
“It goes where you go without having to fumble around for money or gift cards,” DuBois said. “It can be reloaded instantly. The app offers lots of other benefits too, like saving your favorite personalized drinks so you can remember how to order it every time.”
Starbucks began offering its own mobile payment in January 2011 and Adam Brotman, chief digital officer of Starbucks said that since then more than 100million mobile transactions have happened. This recent partnership with the Square application continues their development to ‘create amazing connections’ with their customers.
“Starbucks believes in the values and vision of Square, and just three months after announcing our partnership with Square, we are thrilled to make the convenience of paying with the Square Wallet app available to our customers,” Brotman said in the release.
